Review: The Body Shop Vitamin C Re-Texturising Peel

NYX

Description: A bright orange coloured liquid gel, with a really zesty fragrance, that gently peels away dead skin cells from the surface and shrinks pores to reveal smoother, softer and clearer skin. The complexion is brighter and appears more fresh, radiant and dewy.

I’ve always steered clear of peels as I’m afraid of stripping more moisture away from my already dry skin, but fascinatingly, this particular peel attracted my attention and my dollars on one of my visits to The Body Shop a few months back. However, I’m happy to report that I’ve had absolutely no regrets using this product. It’s been fantastic to my dry skin despite its peeling properties.

The texture is admittedly very, very gooey and it’s very sticky to apply. However, the results are amazing!

Immediately after peeling it off, dead skin cells are gone, and you can visibly see the difference. I know I sound like an advert, but it really was THAT good for me.

Bottomline is, my skin feels absolutely wonderful after peeling with this product. I only use this once a week, sometimes I even go without it for 2-3 weeks. You basically apply the goo on your face and leave it on for 15-20 minutes, then start stripping /peeling it off. Miracles do happen, girls, they absolutely do! For me, at least, it’s an instant brightener effect!

It has a beautiful citrusy smell which I love. I’m hoping that in the long term, this will help lighten the small spots of pigmentation that I’ve got on my cheeks. Well, I can only try!

It costs $30.95 in Australia and is definitely worth a purchase and repurchasing for me! :)

Review: Benefit That Gal Brightening Primer

that gal

Description: “Go from dull to darling with “That Gal”. It’s a silky pink  primer that makes skin appear smoother and brighter. Wear alone for clear complexion radiance or apply before makeup for smooth, effortless application. Re-brighten during the day with “That Gal”. It’s “That Gal” perfection for a happy complexion.

Contains soothing raspberry and chamomile, combined with sweet almond and algae extracts to help skin retain its natural moisture, for a soft, silky finish.

Light-reflecting pigments brighten the complexion.

Another one of Benefit’s coveted product that proves to be a winner for me! I am so, so in love with That Gal Brightening Face Primer. It really does brighten up my face considerably and even after sleepless nights because of stress or ill-health, this product can really fake fatigue out of me.

The product is of a light pink shade and creamy liquid texture which you squeeze out of the tube by twisting it’s base. I like the fact that it’s dispensed this way as just the right amount of product gets squeezed out, thus, avoiding excessive dispensing and product wastage.

I don’t use this product everyday, but I do use it a lot. It is meant as a face primer / brightener, thus, application is before your foundation, powder or tinted moisturizer.

The effect is a beautiful, lovely and very subtle pinkish glow that I believe would just brighten up any one’s face. Even on my yellow based skin tone, it turned out well and I could see the effects clearly.

The only thing that annoys me about the product initially is this really strong strawberry-ish smell that lingers for a while. However, as I’ve been using it quite regularly, I must have grown immune to it as I could no longer detect the scent. However, this product, to me, is quite heavily scented and it will linger on for a while even after application. So, if you’re one who’s very sensitive to scent, then, this product is not for you.

The product is good for me as I feel that apart from brightening my skin tone, it really helps to set an evenness to my skin tone as well, making it look more flawless and make-up ready. You’ll really have a waked up face look which is perfect for anyone who hasn’t gotten proper sleep the night before.

It’s also good on it’s own just as a brightener instead of a primer. It gives out a subtle healthy glow which is a trait of the product which is most beneficial to me as I can now go out barefaced without any other makeup on, but this and still look healthy and glowing.

On my dry skin, it does help to put a little bit of extra moisture on, which is also a perfect bonus for me.

This product retails for $51 in Australia. A bit pricey, but you really don’t need much for a little glow on your face.

So, for all you girls wanting a primer / brightener or even just something that will put a natural glow to your face when you’re going au naturale, then this may well be the product for you too.

I’m back!

Hi all!!!

I’m back from my wedding holiday in Malaysia! I’m now a Mrs!! Woo-hoo! :)

Arrived in Melbourne last Friday into that 45 degree sweltering heat! Sigh!

I didn’t get to purchase many products due to my lack of “me” time this trip! But, I do have a few reviews coming up in mind.

I’m only just starting to settle in both at home and catching up with my workload at the office, will start to write hopefully sometime in the weekend!

In the meantime, take care and look me up here soon!
